What does the Divemaster course cover?

To attain the title of a PADI Divemaster, you'll undergo a comprehensive training program. Diving theory, safety protocols, and environmental awareness will be covered. Real-world scenarios, including guiding dives and aiding instructors during courses, are integral to your training.

You'll also shadow experienced Divemasters and Instructors, gaining hands-on experience. When can I start the Divemaster course?

To start the course, you need to make sure you have met all prerequisites:

  • Certified PADI Advanced Open Water Diver

  • Certified PADI Rescue Diver

  • 18 years old

  • 40 logged scuba dives

  • Completed Emergency First Responder (EFR) Primary and Secondary Care training within 24 months, or hand over a certificate of completion from an equivalent training organization which we can verify with PADI. 

  • Medically evaluated and cleared for diving by a physician within 12 months. Download the Dive Medical Form here

While the course offers flexibility in its flow, it's important to note that completion of all course requirements is required within a one-year timeframe.

1. Knowledge development:
Start with enrolling your Divemaster eLearning. This eLearning code is only available through our dive shop and comes with several dive slates - known as your crew pack. Once you've successfully completed the eLearning module and passed the exams, wrap up the knowledge development phase with a Quick Review session at our dive shop. An integral component of this phase involves crafting an Emergency Assistance Plan for a familiar dive site.

2. Waterskills:
Demonstrate your ability to swim, float, and assist a fatigued diver. Physical fitness is a crucial attribute for a Divemaster. These exercises determine your true readiness.

3. Practical skills:
Acquire a range of practical skills. Develop dive site mapping abilities. Refine search patterns and knot tying in the Search & Recovery scenario. Engage in a Deep Dive scenario, overseeing site setup, and enhance your dive briefing proficiency.

4. Workshops
Our workshops focus on hands-on experience and practicing the programs you'll lead as a certified Divemaster. You'll actively participate in workshops such as ReActivate, Advanced Snorkeler, Discover Scuba Diving Program, and Discover Local Diving.

5. Practical Assessments
In the practical assessments, you'll delve deeper into your role as a Divemaster during courses. You'll have the opportunity to shadow one of our instructors throughout an Open Water Diver Course and Continuing Education courses (all courses following Open Water). While you'll likely assist real candidates, if they aren't available, you'll engage in practical exercises with role players.

A minimum of 8 full days, but we highly recommend to add some more for the best experience.

Price per person:
1548 usd

Price includes in-water training, PADI Divemaster eLearning + crew pack

The price excludes rental of dive equipment, and tanks. Price also excludes the Divemaster Application fee (155 usd in 2023). Please know that after certification you are required to renew your Divemaster In-Teaching Status yearly. This costs you about 153 usd (in 2023) if you choose the option for automatic renewal.

Additionally, Divemasters are required to possess their own supplementary dive equipment materials, including a compass, dive knife, and surface signaling devices. We also suggest owning a pocket mask, slates, and a pencil. While these items are not included in the price, they are available for purchase at our dive shop.

Should you opt to proceed with us, it's advisable to obtain a diver medical assessment from a certified dive physician first. Once you're medically cleared, we'll initiate the training by providing you access to the PADI Divemaster eLearning program and sending you our course manual.
