The PADI Assistant Instructor program is perfect if you want to gain valuable teaching experience, before joining the PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) course. Embracing the role of an Assistant Instructor not only enriches your skill set but also opens doors to increased employability and a diversified income stream. This program is designed to offer flexibility in terms of course duration and costs, making it an ideal pathway for those considering the journey to becoming a certified OWSI.

Enrolling as an Assistant Instructor empowers you to lead various PADI Specialties under supervision, including notable courses like Peak Performance Buoyancy. Furthermore, this role allows you to extend your influence by introducing non-diving specialties such as the PADI AWARE Coral Reef Conservation course, amplifying your impact within the diving community.

The Assistant Instructor is a very valuable member of the dive shop team. Equipped with a comprehensive understanding of the PADI System of diver education, the Assistant excels in delivering lessons and specific courses.

During the AI course, you’ll dive deeper into the PADI System, conducting knowledge development teaching presentations, confined and open water teaching. This hands-on training offers a tangible experience of course instruction. Upon certification, you gain the authority to lead programs under supervision and some independently.

Commitment and hard work elevates you to the prestigious PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor title.

As an Instructor, you have the opportunity to travel to new and exciting places, work at different locations in the world, change peoples lives and share your passion for diving on a daily bases.

Wondering how to ascend this ladder of achievement?

Begin by fulfilling the prerequisites: attaining medical clearance for diving and logging 100 dives. Once prepared, embark on the Instructor Development Course (IDC) and completing the following steps:

  1. Master all components of the IDC eLearning curriculum.

  2. Dive into the practical segment of your professional training at our Scuba Elite Academy. For example skills like conducting knowledge development presentations, and confined and open water teaching techniques.

  3. After 8 days of intensive training, synthesize your hard work! The two-day Instructor Examination (IE) is your proving ground. Complete theory exams and demonstrate your acquired skills to the PADI examiners.

  4. Upon completion of the comprehensive IDC and the 2-day IE, it's time to celebrate your huge achievement!
